IS LUMP REMOVAL NECESSARY?
Before any kind of surgery, a thorough examination by the vet will be performed. As there are many different kinds of lumps there may be a need for further diagnostic testing before removal is advised. Occasionally removal is not required and your pet can live comfortably lumps, bumps and all!
AS AN OWNER – WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
It is a good idea to check your pet’s skin weekly for any new lumps or to monitor existing lumps. You can do this by:
- Taking weekly photos of lumps
- Measuring the lump and keeping track of the size
- Spotting changes in size, form or texture of the lump
- Being aware if the lump in beginning to irritate the pet
- If the lump has become inflamed or irritated
If any changes occur to the lump or lump lumps have risen, it is recommended you have them checked over by the vet.
